From 23rd to 26th March, Seattle (United States) is hosting the Make Believe Seattle festival with the participation of FAITH, the acclaimed short film by Carol Butrón for AURA Pictures.
FAITH will be present in the Shorts Block: Final Girls, where it shares a section with five other works united under the same leitmotiv: their main characters. All of them feature "complicated women on disparate journeys whose travels take them through monsters, obsessions, psychological turmoil, and weird and wild wonders".
In the case of FAITH, the latest work by director Carol Butrón, the weight falls on the role of Teresa, who, as a young girl, has to deal with the disappearance of her best friend, Lucas. The film tells the story of how, after many years without having forgotten him, Teresa begins to have a hunch that Lucas is alive, but in another dimension.
Focusing on horror, science fiction, fantasy and animation, the Make Believe Seattle festival seeks to bring the best of these genres to the American city with a "diverse and unpredictable" programming. It is an event with a carefully planned programme that seeks to seduce an audience that is increasingly interested in these themes.
The festival will take place in various venues in the city of Seattle. Among them is the emblematic SIFF Egyptian Hall, which was originally built to house a Masonic temple and converted into a cultural and creative space for film lovers in the 1980s. It will share the programme with the historic Century Ballroom building, which is characterised by its early 20th century architecture.

Del 23 al 26 de marzo, Seattle (Estados Unidos) acoge el festival Make Believe Seattle con la participación de FAITH, el aclamado corto de Carol Butrón para AURA Pictures
FAITH estará presente dentro del bloque de cortos Final Girls, donde comparte sección con otras cinco obras unidas bajo un mismo leitmotiv: sus personajes principales. Todos ellos están protagonizadas por “mujeres complicadas en viajes dispares cuyas travesías las llevan a través de monstruos, obsesiones, confusión psicológica y maravillas extrañas y salvajes”.
En el caso de FAITH, el último trabajo de la directora Carol Butrón, el peso recae en el papel de Teresa, quien siendo tan solo una niña tiene que enfrentarse a la desaparición de su mejor amigo, Lucas. La cinta narra cómo, tras muchos años sin haberle olvidado, Teresa empieza a tener la corazonada de que Lucas está vivo, pero en otra dimensión.
Centrado en el terror, la ciencia ficción, la fantasía y la animación, el festival Make Believe Seattle busca reunir en la ciudad estadounidense lo mejor de estos géneros con una programación “diversa e impredecible”. Se trata de un evento con una cuidada programación que busca seducir a un público cada vez más interesado en estas temáticas.
El festival se desarrollará en varios escenarios de la ciudad de Seattle. Entre ellos destaca la emblemática sala The SIFF Egyptian, que fue construida en sus orígenes para albergar un templo masónico y reconvertida en espacio cultural y creativo para los amantes del cine en los años 80. Compartirá programación con el histórico edificio que acoge el Century Ballroom y que se caracteriza por su arquitectura de principios del siglo XX.
